15.09.2008
What do Altex and Vodafone have in common? At the first sight, and not only, almost nothing. They are market leaders in different business areas and ... that’s it! But when you pass the front-office and carefully search the enginees of these company’s effciency, you will find some common points. One of these points is that the two companies have implemented the informatic solution Novensys for Inventory. An application with a wide coverage area which has managed to draw, in just a few years from its release, important names from the Romanian economy in it’s portfolio.
For many dialog partners from the IT market, when you say Novensys, you say solutions for information management dedicated to the retail, logistics, distribution, utilities and manufacturing sectors. However, Vodafone is one of the company’s traditional partners. Which solution did you implement at the telecom operator?
Romeo Iacob – Sales and Marketing Director, Novensys: We are talking about the application Novensys for Inventory specially adjusted to fit the telco sector, by having developed specific modules according to the requests of this industry.A complexe application, with a high degree of efficiency, which main functionalities are automation, tracking and registering warehouse activities – such as reception, stocking, inventory, delivery etc. – through mobile equipment and bar codes. These are major functionalities of this solution and for the telecom industry we have added specific modules - for example, the additional module for spcific site maintenace operations – antennas and additional equipement.
By introducing specific „field service” operations automation is obtained for recording repair and replacement of spare parts and site components, which reduces the time and cost of execution for these operations. Furthermore, data accuracy is much higher and the error risk is considerably reduced.
- How many of these customizations have you cariied out for the Novensys for Inventory application?
Romeo Iacob: The application has a high level of coverage and stands out through its efficiency, flexibility and scalability. As I was saying, novensys for Inventoryis a specialized solution for automation of warehouse and store processes. The speciliazed modules and functionalities enable the optimization of document processing time, of the excution time of various operations in the warehouse, which allows a fast improvement of the number of workers in these areas. And these are the desires of any company in any activity field. That is why Novensys for Inventory managed to attract so many customers from different industries: Altex, Vodafone, Mega Image, Germanos, Diverta, Dedeman, Ferroli, Spar, etc.
It’s true that the specific developments made by the Novensys teams have also majorly contributed to this success, so at this point we have dedicated offers for the retail sector – online and batch -, telco, distrubution and logistics, and manufacturing. And not last the fact that it is a solution that completes and specializes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions.
Virtually, through the interfacing with the ERP systems taking in master data sheets (goods, suppliers, customers etc.), delivery orders, shipments etc becomes an automatic process, which generates increase in productivity in any company, by eliminating the necesity of manually entering data into the system. The automation of the operations is so easy also due to the fact that we offer the latest hardware solutions, with extended capabilities. Novensys is business partner for industry leaders (like Motorola, Psion, Zebra etc.) and we are able to provide and integrate the solution and the equipement in one solide architecture.
- Beside these major functionalities, what would be some „points of attraction” of this application?
Romeo Iacob: The main – and most obvious – advantage of Novensys for Inventory relies in the fact that it disposses of bureaucracy and of the large amount of documents on paper support. The application provides real-time information about merchandise stock for every location and administration separatly. But these aren’t all the benefits. For example, through the implementation of Novensys for Inventory, the application dedicated to the retail industry will improve the stock accuracy, reduce inventory time with the aid of intelligent scanning of the products in the whole warehouse, trace items by serial numbers (benefiting from the advantage of traceability – a must in some industries), reprint automatically (or by hand) the price labels at price changes in the data base and create and supervise promotional packages. These are just a few benefits and just for one „specialization”. Of course, the rest of the de specific developments, let’s say for the manufacturing field, include some of the above mentioned features, and many more dedicated to this industry.
