WhereNet and the active RFID system improve Land Rover efficiency in processing new vehicles
22.05.2008
Where Net Corp, a Zebra Technologies company and the leader in wireless solutions designed for monitoring and management of company goods, reports that Land Rover has extended its standard WhereNet RFID service with RTLS technology – the system for real-time localization aided the vehicle manufacturing company to process over 150.000 new vehicles per year. The WhereNet system for tracking and management of vehicles (VTMS) improved production speed, labour productivity, order-to-cash cycles and vehicle quality.
“We used to waste a lot of time by trying to pinpoint new vehicles in our yard”, says Dave O'Reilly, Land Rover's manufacturing and purchasing IT manager.
“Now we are always able to physically locate new vehicles accurately. The information provided by the WhereNet system is very important for the optimization of the manufacturing process, providing support in manufacturing and ensuring that Land Rover delivers vehicles at the highest standards of quality”.
